Sleep On It

The end of the day has a way of convincing you what you’ve done is good. The next morning has a way of telling the you truth.

This is great advice for any creative. The best advice is usually to just “sleep on it,” and that’s especially the case with writing.

I usually find that what I wrote late last night is absolute garbage when I wake up the next morning. The time that separates the night from the morning gives you clarity to judge your work from a removed perspective.
