The Tumblr Empire
But Tumblr is growing up, fast: the site expanded its user base by 900 per cent in the year to June 2011. In 2010, it served under two billion monthly page views; now, it generates about 14 billion, more than Wikipedia or Twitter. Its 36 million users so far have created 42 million posts each day — 13.5 billion in total. According to Nielsen, it was the UK’s second most popular social network or blog in the third quarter of 2011, with 229.6 million page views, trailing onlyFacebook. In September 2011, the company raised $85 million (£55m) from investors — a round that valued Tumblr at $800 million (£500m).
A fantastic piece by Wired on David Karp and the success of Tumblr. It feels good to be using the most innovative social blogging platform out there.
I see what you’re trying to do there, Tumbr. I see right through your red herring.
Today I got my Tumblr stickers in the mail. :) They’re quite fantastic and I love that the Tumblr “Sticker Fairy” gave me so many! The best part… THEY’RE FREE!!!
If you would also like some stickers for personal use, you can mail a self-addressed stamped envelope to:

Thanks Tumblr Staff!!! xD
I’ve tried taking advantage of Tumblr adopting the Twitter API and in turn set up my Tumblr account in Tweetie 2 for iPhone.
I like the straight-forwardness of the set-up, but I still don’t see the functionality of integrating these two services together. Don’t get me wrong it’s definitely a step in the right direction, but I think the Twitter API is still not polished enough for a service as complicated as Tumblr. You can’t even see previews easily for photos like you can for yfrog or twitpic.
What would really make this integration more useful would be if you could see your own personal tumblr feed with with your post’s likes and reblogs in the “@” tab in Tweetie. I know this is too much to ask. The bottom line is the Twitter API isn’t sophisticated enough yet for a blogging platform, and there aren’t any Twitter clients sophisticated enough for the tumblr platform.
It’s a step in the right direction as usual Tumblr guys. Twitter… make your API better.
